Screens Making it Hard to See Comfortably? We Can Help!

Whether you are working on that report that’s due tomorrow or just trying to catch up on some binge-worthy TV, digital eye strain can make it difficult to enjoy the devices you love! But how does it happen, and what can you do to alleviate your symptoms?

The EyeZone team is ready to help you find the relief you deserve. If you are struggling with digital eye strain, please give us a call today or book your appointment online!

What is Digital Eye Strain?

Digital eye strain is the feeling of over-tired, watery, and irritated eyes after spending a lot of time focusing on an up-close object.

While devices can contribute to digital eye strain, digital devices aren’t actually solely responsible for causing your symptoms. In fact, doing any up-close work (like reading, for example) for a long time can lead to eye strain, regardless if you are looking at a screen or not! Digital eye strain can cause a range of symptoms, including:

  • Dry eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Irritated eyes
  • Headaches
  • Sore neck and shoulders

Quick Tips for Managing Eye Strain

If you are at home, at work, or in the classroom, the 20-20-20 rule can provide you with quick relief from eye strain.

Every 20 minutes, spend 20 seconds looking at an object about 20 feet away. This exercise relaxes your eye muscles and gives you a chance to blink.

Eye drops and artificial tears are the go-to answer for most eye strain problems. However, we recommend checking with our doctors before using any over-the-counter products.

Even adjusting how you sit at your desk can help alleviate eye strain symptoms. Whenever you sit at your workstation, make sure you:

  • Adjust your screen brightness to match the room you are in.
  • Angle the screen from light sources that could cause glare.
  • Sit in a position where your screens are 20 degrees below eye level and about an arm’s length away.

Find The Comfort You Deserve
