Are you looking for a solution for vision issues like myopia and hyperopia? Laser eye surgery could provide the answers you are looking for! However, before you are cleared to have laser eye surgery, you must have a consultation with our team first.
We will not only help you find which type of laser eye surgery is right for you, but we will also co-manage the entire process from beginning to end. Are you interested in starting your laser eye surgery journey? Please book a consultation with us today!
Laser eye surgery, or refractive lens surgery, refers to various procedures that could help correct vision problems caused by myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
The goal of these procedures is to permanently improve your vision; however, laser eye surgery does not guarantee 20/20 vision. Many patients still need glasses or contact lenses to achieve clear vision, but the surgery could help lower their required lens prescription.
But before you can have laser eye surgery, you must first have a laser eye surgery consultation.
Consultations are full, comprehensive eye exams that help us determine if your eyes are healthy enough for surgery and what type of surgery would be best for you. Once we decide if you are a candidate for laser eye surgery, we will help you find an ophthalmologist to perform the procedure while co-managing the process.
Some conditions that might stop you from having laser eye surgery include:
While we do not perform laser eye surgeries ourselves, we provide support throughout the healing process. Following your procedure, we will book a series of follow-up appointments to ensure your eyes are recovering and provide eye drops or medications you may need so your eyes heal safely.
Following your surgery, you will experience certain side effects, like dry eyes, visual glare, and halos. These side effects could cause blurry vision or discomfort, but these are normal to the healing process. If your symptoms are becoming more severe, please contact our team as soon as possible.
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) eye surgery is a common version of laser eye surgery. During the procedure, your ophthalmologist will create a small flap from your epithelium, the outermost layer of your cornea, using either a small blade or a femtosecond laser.
Folding the flap back, your surgeon will then reshape the corneal stroma using an excimer laser to improve your vision. Once this process is complete, the flap will be set back in place.
PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) eye surgery is very similar to LASIK surgery, but it involves removing the epithelium layer rather than creating a flap. Your corneal stroma is still reshaped with an excimer laser.
Refractive lens exchange is a unique procedure that, instead of reshaping your cornea, replaces your clear crystalline lens with an intraocular lens in your prescription.
If you believe laser eye surgery will help improve your vision, please contact us today to schedule your consultation!
